Question

Update for the Ambit watch to show the distance with two decimal places?

The Ambit watch shows the distance over 10 km only with one decimal place after the decimal point, but on the pictures of the Ambit on suunto.com the watch shows the distance with two decimal places: "dst 12.35 km". When will be an update?

Question

Re-use logged track (during exercise) for navigation

I logged an exercise and I can see the route via movescount in the Google map screen.
Now, I want to do this track again. How can this be done?

I thought the logged tracks during exercise would be automatically saved in the routes menu under navigation...

Even if I want to export/import from Movescount, to save it on the watch, it says 'too many waypoints'.

So, my question: how can I use a logged track during exercise in the navigation menu, to do this track again?

Unfortunately at the moment Movesount doesn´t automatically save the routes that you have logged with the Suunto Ambit. Exporting and importing is the only way to reuse the route at the moment, if there are too many waypoints, you can change it by using some third party software. You can send feedback directly to the Movescount team by using the Feedback button on the site.

Question

Is it possible to change the GPS feed on the watch itself?

It seems that changing the GPS feed (1 sec and 60 sec) can only be done from the Movescount site. Is that correct?

I would expect that this should be possible from watch itself.

If you are in middle of nowhere where no computer are available then it would be impossible to change the feed.

Unfortunately the GPS fix of the Suunto Ambit can only be changed on Movescount.

If you have any improvement ideas or feedback concerning the Ambit, you may send your feedback to the email address ambit@suunto.com. Your opinions will be taken into consideration when planning the next software update. (Please note, however, that it is likely that you will not be receiving a reply to your email.)

Question

Why is downloading data from the device so terribly slow?

Hello

When I connect my Ambit to my Mac, Moveslink starts to download data from the device and takes ages to do so, even when I have added only one new move. Is there a way to speed up this process or do future software versions have a smarter synchronisation algorithm?

Kind regards
Marcel

Improving the speed of the data transfer is something that Suunto is currently working on. The data transfer is known to be slower in the cases where there is more data to be transferred (for example when recording laps or using a 1 second GPS fix).

Question

reuse moves for navigation

How can I reuse the recorded mountain biking route for navigation? I couldn't figure out how to this either directly on the Ambit or indirectly via Movescount. But I guess there must be an easier way than exporting the recorded route, simplify it in an external program and then re-import it as a new route into Movescount.

Please help. Thank you.

You can use the recorded route for navigation only after you have uploaded the Move to Movescount, created a track out of it and downloaded that to your Ambit.

We would recommend you to update your Moveslink2 to the latest version, you can do it by removing the software and reinstalling it from Movescount. The latest Moveslink2 version should suggest you the 1.8 update automatically after connecting the Suunto Ambit to your computer.

Question

Lap when pausing record

While I'm running with Ambit, I normally record my moves with auto lap by every kilometer. Due to various reason, eg. traffic light, my exercise is interrupted, and I pause the record by pressing 'Start/Stop' and restart the record.
I do not want this pause shown as a lap in the log.
Can I expect this feature be part of future update?

At the moment the Suunto Ambit makes a lap every time the exercise is paused. It is possible that in the future there might be an autopause function in the watch that wouldn´t make a lap. Please feel free to send Ambit update suggestions to the following address: ambit@suunto.com.

Question

Why lap when start/stop

Yesterday I had my first run with my new Ambit. At my run I stop at some trafficlights and hit stop/start to pause the recording. But watching the data afterwards it seems that the watch keeps recording time and insted just make a lap! Is this a bug? or can you give me a good reason for it? If I wanted a lap I would push "lap"!!

Question

Calories Burned without HR monitor?

Does movescount give an estimated "calories burned" if a HR monitor is NOT used? Or is a HR monitor required to get this info?

Seems like it should be able to give at least a ruff estimate based on, GPS data, time and user info (Height, weight, etc...)

The Suunto Ambit will lose the pairing if you take out the battery of the heart rate belt. However, this procedure is normally not necessary. You can pair the Suunto Ambit again with the same heart rate belt or any other compatible heart rate belt without disconnecting it first.

Question

GPS data not recording occasionally

I've had two runs recently where GPS data was not recorded, my route was not logged. I knew something was up when it was showing my running speed as sub 6 minute miles instead of 8. It recorded distance and speed but these figures were exaggerated. These were both on sunny clear sky days, so Im wondering why this could be happening.

For an optimal signal, point the GPS part of the device upwards. The best signal can be received in an open area with a clear view of the sky.

The GPS receiver usually works well inside tents and other thin covers. However, objects, buildings, dense vegetation or cloudy weather can reduce the GPS signal reception quality.

GPS signal does not penetrate any solid constructions or water. Thereforedo not try to activate GPS for example inside buildings, caves, or under water.

In case GPS is not working properly, you can reset GPS data in the service menu. To access the service menu, keep [Back Lap] and [Start Stop] pressed simultaneously until the device enters the service menu.
1. In the service menu, scroll to ACTION with [Light Lock] and enter with [Next].
2. Press [Light Lock] to scroll to GPS reset and enter with [Next].
3. Press [Start Stop] to confirm GPS reset, or press [Light Lock] to cancel.
