Question

Accuracy of Ambit3 run

Until recently I used the Suunto t6d with mini foot pod and dual comfort belt , unfortunately watch began to change screens while running . I decided to buy new ambit3 run version, but in my country there is no shop where I could find some appropriate smart foot pod or something to measure distance . I wonder what is the accuracy of measuring distances in Ambit 3 run , as I understand it uses GPS to locate , since the circuit where I run is about 160 m .

Question

Suunto foot pod mini pair ambit3 sport

I just purchased the foot pod mini to use with my ambit3 sport and when I received it I tried pairing it but it would not pair. Is it possible that a new foot pod would come with a dead battery or is there something else to try to get it to pair?

I assume you bought the ANT+ FOOT POD which is not compatible with the Ambit3 which is only supporting Bluetooth and not ANT+ anymore.
So you will need to buy a Bluetooth FOOT POD. From Suunto I could not find one, so try the Adidas one for instance.

Adidas MiCoach smart cell bluetooth smart works perfectly well.
But mind - it must be BLUETOOTH version not ANT+ (older one).

Currently Suunto does not have any Foot PODs featuring Bluetooth Smart, which the Ambit3 requires.

However, as the Ambit3 devices are compatible with Bluetooth Smart and Smart Ready devices, you should be able to find a number of options here: http://www.bluetooth.com/Pages/Bluetooth-Smart-Devices-List.aspx

Question

Low battery life

I have had a quest watch for 3 weeks and have been for 3 runs with the shoe pod and heart rate monitor. 50 mins per run. After the third run the watch prompted me that the shoe pod was low on battery and the heart rate monitor was not picked up prior to my run so I ran without. Is there something I am doing to drain the battery? I certainly haven't got 400 hours out of these, at max about 3 hours!
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

We advise you to replace the battery. Some items may have been on the retailer shelf for some time, therefore the battery might not be brand new.

Question

Foot pod mini - erratic distance measurement

I have two foot pod mini's. Both seem to be measuring distance very erratically recently. I've changed the battery in one and ensured it is secure, but the problem has continued. I also have a bike pod, and I have no issues with it, so it seems not to be my t6c, but rather than pod. As an example, my last run had splits of ~4:45/km and 2:10/km despite running a relatively constant pace (and the fact that I'd be an Olympian if able to run a 2:10 pace!!). It is very odd that both foot pods are exhibiting the same issue. Any ideas?

The battery cover can be rotated with the help of ie. a coin. There are videos about the battery change on YouTube as well. It is certainly probable that the pairing doesn't work, when the POD has a low battery.

Question

Foot Pod vs. Ambit 2 S - Cadence calculation

Hi,

I've just purchased an Ambit 2 S and separately a Foot Pod. Upon updating my Ambit 2 I was informed of the new cadence calculation on-board the watch itself.

Is there any advantage to me keeping the Pod or will it simply deplete the watch battery faster.

Thanks

Question

Can I use One Foot Pod with both QUEST and M5?

Hi. Is there any limit as to the number of Suunto heart rate monitors that can be paired with a single foot pod mini?

I bought a Suunto Quest Running Pack close to two years ago and I've been using my Quest with the foot pod mini without any issues at all since.

Recently, I bought a Suunto M5. I tried pairing my M5 with the foot pod from my Quest running pack, but it just won't pair. It always says "POD not found!" when I try to pair it. But the said foot pod still works perfectly with my Quest.

According to my knowledge, you can use one foot pod with several devices.

To try again, try to follow these steps:
1.Remove the battery.
2.Re-insert the battery upside down to reset the Foot Pod and remove the battery again.
3.Scroll to the M5's pairing option
4.Insert the battery in the Foot Pod the right side up

Question

I am using a M5 with a foot pod mini. So far the distance measuring worked fine for me. But now not any more...

Yesterday I ran a half marathon but my M5 measured 24.5K! It was so frustrating during the race! It had never happened before...What could be the trouble? Different stride length? Can I adjust it, calibrate it? The pod is always on the same foot at the same place... Thanks for the help!

Please be advised you do not need to calibrate the speed and distance PODs. The Foot POD values depend on your running style and the deviation is from -5 to 5%.
As an alternative solution, you could try to replace the battery and re-pair the two devices.

The Foot POD Mini is intended for running activities. Suunto does not currently offer a POD for paddling stroke detection. The Ambit2 watches support ANT+, however, perhaps you could find an other manufacturer device with this functionality that supports ANT+. Ambit3 has the same option for Bluetooth Smart. It might be that one of our users has even created an application for this, try the AppZone in Movescount.
