Question

connect ambit with bontrager cadence sensor

I did add the cadence sensor logging. The ambit does not find the signal of the bontrager cadence sensor (ant+ compatible). It does not even search for it, as with the heart rate monitor. What do I need to do?

Question

GPS ou Foot pod priority on AMBIT2?

I red different answers from people who sign "from Suunto" (Marta_from_SuuntoRomania for exemple or Diana_from_Suunto):
some say GPS has got the priority, when others say the contrary.
Where is the truth?
Does AMBIT 2 mix information (like fusespeed) from GPS and Foot Pod?
Is it usefull tu use Foot Pod when GPS signal is good (countryside)?
And when GPS signal is sometime lost (not always) (cities)?
Thank you for your answer.

At the current moment the Foot POD data will overwrite the GPS distance. There has not been any announcement made regarding changing the priority or mixing the two. Without the GPS there will not be a map on your Movescount, but it would save your battery a lot. The Ambit2 comes with FusedSpeed and this means the combination of the accelerometer and GPS, hence the Foot Pod might not even be necessary when the GPS signal is lost as the accelerometer will take over for that time.

Question

What is the real advantage to use the foot mini pod when you run with the Ambit2 in the exterior?

I have tried and in 12km run the watch make and difference to the iphone gps of 600m (more on the watch than in the iphone).
Now i understand that you need to calibrate the pod and if you have the pod, the distance and the speed will be measure by the pod.
My question is what is more precise, the mini pod or the gps of the watch?

Actually the GPS in the watch is really accurate. To make sure it is working the best way you need to connect your watch to Moveslink2 two times per week to get new satellite data to the watch. That helps the watch to work the most accurate way. Also you can check that you have your Movescount GPS settings as best:
www.movescount.com, gear, select your device, select edit from the sportmode you want to edit, check settings of GPS accuracy and recording interval.

Please make sure that before beginning the exercise you have customized your sport mode in Movescount.com so that it uses both the HR belt and the Foot Pod Mini:

- Movescount.com – Gear – Ambit – Customization
- Select the sport that you want to use
- Click on Edit
- Click on Show Advanced Settings
- Check under PODS TO SEARCH: HR belt and Foot Pod
- Save the changings
- Connect the watch to the computer to transfer them

When you begin the training, please make sure that the watch is searching both for the HR belt and for the Foot Pod. When the two are found, you can start training and at the end you should be able to see the distance value.

Question

Does the foot pod mini have a low battery indicator?

Hi,

Is there any way to tell when the battery on the foot pod mini is getting low?

It would be convenient to know if the battery is due for replacement because it only has say less than 2 hours life left before I go out to run a marathon race?

Hello,

It's not possible to download data from a Suunto Foot POD Mini. It has to be paired and connected with one of our watches first, e.g. M-Series, Quest or Ambit Series. Then the watch will save the data sent from the POD and it turn it will be sent to Movescount through the Movestick Mini.

I think it depends on wrist unit you use. In general, on T3 you can see average as well as actual speed during your move. The same applies for Quest. Check e.g this move http://www.movescount.com/moves/move21058704 for Quest tracking.

The POD can be used in both outdoor and indoor situation. When using a POD, the watch will record the distance information based on it. We would recomend calibrating the POD for accurate distance readings. Please refer to the Foot POD Mini for guidance on how to do this (page 115)

Hello,

We only recommend the Foot POD to be used with the Ambit Series if you train for a long time in an area that can hardly be reached by GPS signals (very dense forest, tunnels, ...). In other cases, the Ambit has all the functions that a Foot POD has.

Question

What's the point of use the Foot Pod with Ambit

I use the Ambit GPS watch.
I have also the Foot POD mini (from my "old" T3d watch).
1- What is the interest of using the Foot Pod with the Ambit?
2- Does it use GPS or Foot Pod for speed and distance?
3- When you climb, how the Ambit measure the distance?
Between several GPS points? Or the Ambit analyse the GPS points + the altitude changing and deduced the true distance? (hypotenuse of a triangle have't the same length that the opposite face!)
Thanks

The Suunto Foot POD is compatible only with sports watches, including t3, t4 and t6 watches.

The Suunto Memory Belt can only be connected with the t3, t4, t6 watches, as well as with the Suunto Team POD and the watches in the Ambit family.
The Suunto Memory Belt only records (if used alone) or transmits (in connection with something else) heart rate data.

Hello,

Please make sure that your Ambit automatically searches after the Foot POD Mini at the start of an exercise. You can adjust this in Movescount under "Gear" > "Ambit" >" Customization" > "[Preferred Sports Mode]" > "Advanced Settings" > "PODs to search" and make sure that "Foot POD" is active.

In order to ensure the POD produces accurate data, it should be calibrated. This is possible with the Quest, Ambit or t6d-devices.

Perform the calibration on an accurately measured distance, for instance, on a 400 meter running track.

To calibrate Suunto Foot POD Mini with Suunto Ambit:

1. Attach Suunto Foot POD Mini to your shoe. For more information, see Suunto Foot POD Mini Quick Guide.
2. Choose a custom mode (for example Running) in the start menu.
3. Start running at your usual pace. When you cross the starting line, press [Start Stop] to start the recording.
4. Run a distance of 800–1000 meters (about 0.500–0.700 miles) at your usual pace (for example two laps on a 400 meter track).
5. Press [Start Stop] when you reach the finish line to pause the recording.
6. Press [Back Lap] to stop recording. After stopping the exercise, save the log by pressing [Start Stop]. If you do not want to save the log, press [Light Lock].

Scroll with [Next] through summary views, until you reach the distance summary. Adjust the distance shown on the display to the actual distance you ran with [Start Stop] and [Light Lock]. Confirm with [Next].

7. Confirm the POD calibration by pressing [Start Stop]. Your Foot POD Mini has now been calibrated.
