yes you can pair the pods but the Quest do not have an multisport mode so you need to switch between the activities manual aka stop one activity and start another, with such two activities defined in movescount.com you can also select the corresponding pods in movescount.com for each activity to search and pair

the foot pod mini need to activate before it's broadcasting a signal, unfortunately you can't see this on the foot pod itself but usually if you put it on your shoe and work some steps in between or take the foot pod in your hand and move it around (to create some acceleration within) it gets recognized by the watch, try to hold the watch close during the pairing, once paired the watch never loose the foot pod again in my expereinces, it's pretty solid connection after pairing ( vs Garmin sensor pool concept there you often loose all sensors ...)

Question

Calibration with multiple activities

In order to improve the accuracy of the foot pod while running on road and trails (2 separate activities on watch), can I calibrate for Running and then also calibrate for Trail Running without overwriting the first calibration? I want both to be accurate. I have calibrated "Running" and it seems accurate, but then ran trails using Quest "Trail Running" activity and it was not accurate. Thanks.

unfortunately not, the calibration will be stored on the watch linked to be the paired foot pod not to an individual activity, suggest to calibrate it for your running activity asduring the trail runnign an GPS would bring better distance metrics as typical during trial runs the stride lenght and cadnece of your feet are variating much more as during a road or track run hence the foot pod calibration make bring not so much for this activity

The Foot POD Mini is not compatible with the Ambit3 series. This is because the Foot POD Mini uses ANT+ to communicate wirelessly with other devices, whereas the Ambit3 series uses Bluetooth Smart (BLE 4.0).

Unfortunately we do not currently produce Bluetooth Smart PODs that can be used with the Ambit3 series, as such you would need to inquire with a third party developer for compatible Bluetooth Smart PODs. You can find a list of some Bluetooth Smart devices here: http://www.bluetooth.com/Pages/Bluetooth-Smart-Devices-List.aspx

for speed and distance the footpod is okay, anyway she won't get an map with location and route for this you need either the GPS pod or the GPS track pod

Both the Foot POD Mini and GPS Track POD are able to give you speed and distance readings.

However, only the GPS Track POD will also give you a GPS track for your run, similar to your Ambit.

I assume you bought the ANT+ FOOT POD which is not compatible with the Ambit3 which is only supporting Bluetooth and not ANT+ anymore.
So you will need to buy a Bluetooth FOOT POD. From Suunto I could not find one, so try the Adidas one for instance.

Currently Suunto does not have any Foot PODs featuring Bluetooth Smart, which the Ambit3 requires.

However, as the Ambit3 devices are compatible with Bluetooth Smart and Smart Ready devices, you should be able to find a number of options here: http://www.bluetooth.com/Pages/Bluetooth-Smart-Devices-List.aspx

Question

Low battery life

I have had a quest watch for 3 weeks and have been for 3 runs with the shoe pod and heart rate monitor. 50 mins per run. After the third run the watch prompted me that the shoe pod was low on battery and the heart rate monitor was not picked up prior to my run so I ran without. Is there something I am doing to drain the battery? I certainly haven't got 400 hours out of these, at max about 3 hours!
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Question

Foot pod mini - erratic distance measurement

I have two foot pod mini's. Both seem to be measuring distance very erratically recently. I've changed the battery in one and ensured it is secure, but the problem has continued. I also have a bike pod, and I have no issues with it, so it seems not to be my t6c, but rather than pod. As an example, my last run had splits of ~4:45/km and 2:10/km despite running a relatively constant pace (and the fact that I'd be an Olympian if able to run a 2:10 pace!!). It is very odd that both foot pods are exhibiting the same issue. Any ideas?

The battery cover can be rotated with the help of ie. a coin. There are videos about the battery change on YouTube as well. It is certainly probable that the pairing doesn't work, when the POD has a low battery.

Question

Foot Pod vs. Ambit 2 S - Cadence calculation

Hi,

I've just purchased an Ambit 2 S and separately a Foot Pod. Upon updating my Ambit 2 I was informed of the new cadence calculation on-board the watch itself.

Is there any advantage to me keeping the Pod or will it simply deplete the watch battery faster.

Thanks
