Please be advised the Suunto D4i Novo strap is compatible with the Suunto D4, however the body of the Suunto D4 cannot be replaced with a D4i Novo one.

Question

suunto D4 does not check battery in dive air mode.

When check battery in dive mode, computer just show ..."D4 version v01.00.002".
When I turn on the backlight, information on display will disapear.
What to do?

Question

How to change software for my D4

Hi everybody.
First of all I would like to thank in advance who ever will read my question and drop answer to help me with it.
And my problem a bit water gots inside my computer while diving and it started to act in strange way giving wrong and random informations then I open it after and dry the water which wasn't much then close it again and it worked normally as watch but once I switch on the dive mood it start pipping and show strange stuff !
Them I took it to someone who fix dive computer who told me the only way to fix the software problems is to change the whole michanism which make no sense to repair it than to buy new one with a bit more money!
So if their any way to repair it without changing the whole michanism ?!

Remove free dive option

As I only dive with air / nitrox I'd like to have the Free Dive option removed. I realy don't understand why this option is on a dive computer.... It's giving me troubles when this option is accidently selected before/at the start of a dive....

Hi, Suunto D3, D4 and D4i are specially designed free diving computers. You should be asking why you didn't buy another watch for diving :) eheh
Same thing happens to me when I'm trying to use free Dive option and go to Air or... :) eheh at least when you make a mistake you don't have to wait for before flying eheh.

It would be a nice option to deactivate some features but... It's OK like this...

Why my D4 is not recording more than 5 in logbook?

Last week i was in Egypt and I dived 14 times. But i saw that in logbook just 5 logs of scuba dives. I have 211 in scuba history but i can see just 5 of them. forward or backward, after 5 dives it says end of the logbook. How can ı see my 99 logs?

Your logbook in Suunto D4 have a memory capacity of approximately 80 hours of diving with 20 second recording intervals. After that, when new dives are added, the oldest dives are deleted.

Hi Dmitry,

We're sorry, but it's not possible to manually delete dives from a Suunto dive computer like the D4i. The device has a circular memory: Once it's filled, newer dives start overwriting older dives automatically.

battery replacement

i want to replace my battery and the old one is a duracell DL2450. made in Japan. the replacement a (duracell dl2450) is made in Indonesia and its just a little different in size. so it doesnt fit into the battery holder. please advice. do i need a new batteryholder? i also tried a different brand nl Panasonic CR2450 but its the same and also made in Indonesia.

This is the problem in detail: The D4 Devices require a 24.5mm x 2.5mm diameter positive end and 22.3mm diameter x 2.5mm negative end.
These new one's are 24.5mm diameter x about 4.0mm positive end and 22.3mm diameter x 1.0mm negative end.

so there's a different of 1.5mm and this doesn't fit into the rubber mall.

Please let an Suunto Engineer look at this.

DM4 works with all Macs (made after 2006) that have OS 10.5 or newer. Unfortunately, iPad is not compatible with DM4.

Suunto dive computers do not tell how long the surface interval before the next dive should take though if you do not have a longer surface interval time then the your no-stop times will be shorter for the next dive.By entering into plan mode you can see what your bottom time will be and make a decision to whether it is a suitable time to go back in the water or to wait a little longer.

Remaining surface time between two dives

When I make first air dive and surfaced, I have NO FLY sign and Diver Attention Symbol. When I scroll through the menu I can only see actual surface time, but I`m not able to see remaining surface time before next dive. Is it possible to see this information on D4

The D4i does not display the time you should stay on the surface before the next dive. It only shows you the time between the dives.

Suunto DM4 doen not detect my Suunto D4 Black

Hi,

A couple of years ago I bought a Suunto D4 Black in order to keep track of my free dives. Recently, when going for a dive, a got a low battery warning. I therefore bought a data transfer cable, in order to secure my free diving data.

The problem occurs when I try to transfer the data. As soon as the cable is connected and i open Suunto DM4 (latest version), my D4 Black says "Data Transfer" in the display. However, the DM4 does not detect the D4 Black, and simply says "Device Not Connected". The same thing happened when I tried the Suunto DM3.

Any ideas on how to get past this?

The D4 cannot transfer the dive data to DM4 if its battery is low.

If the battey is replaced in a proper mammer, all history and profile data, as well as the altitude, personal, and alarm settings will remain in the dive computer memory. However, the clock time and time alarm settings are lost. In the NITROX Mode, the nitrox settings also revert back to default settings (MIX1 21 % O2, 1.4 bar PO2).

Mac will not detect D4i

I have a Mac with DM4 and Mono loaded, but it will detect my D4i. DM4 loads ok, the cable connects ok (not as well machined as i thought it would be) but the 2 do not talk to each other. The D4i screen randomly alternates between 'data transfer' and 'time' (ie does not stay on 'data transfer' constantly), which would suggest that there is a connection problem.

Please verify with your retailer that you have the new data cable, the older data cable for the D4/D6/D9 is not compatible with the D4i.

Suunto dive computers have a circular memory, meaning that once the memory is full the oldest dives will be overwritten. The amount of dives you can store in the diving computer depends on which sample rate (the frequency at which data is stored) you have chosen.
In this case it is possible that the problem is related to sample rate settings. If the sample rate has been set to 1s, the D4 can record only about 2 hours of dives. If the sample rate is 10s the D4 can record 18 hours and if the sample rate is 20s, it can record 36 hours. If the sample rate is 30 s the D4 can record 54 hours and when sample rate is 60 s 108 hours.
You can change the sample rate with following instructions.
1. Enter the diving mode.
2. Press and hold 'Down' button.
3. Scroll to 'Sample rate' with the 'Up' button.
4. Press "Select" button and change the sample rate with 'Down' and 'Up' buttons.
5. Press 'Select' and then 'Mode'.
Unfortunately there is no way to get back the dives that were erased from the memory.

Scuba History Suunto D4 &D6

1. I have over 1000 dives. Obviously, the dive # reset back to 0 at the 1000th dive. I just purchase the cable manager and tried downloading all my dives, but it did not download all my dives
2. After the dive number reset - I have a total of 300 + dives however when downloading teh data only 71 was downloaded
3. I have a Suunto Geeko as well and I can't register it as the product does not exist in the pull down list.

The memory in the Suunto D4 and D6 will retain approximately the last 80 hours (20 second sample rate) of dive time. After that, when new dives are added, the oldest dives are deleted.

The Suunto Gekko is no longer in production.

With a 1 second sample rate you can store approximately 100 minutes of dives, for longer dives you should choose a different sample rate, e.g. 5 seconds.

Dive Manager 3.1 has been discontinued and replaced with DM4, please uninstall Dive Manager 3.1 and and drivers containing the word 'Suunto' then reboot your computer without the data cable attached and visit the link below to install the latest version of the Suunto DM4 software:
