Our products are tested with ISO (international Organization for standardization) standard 2281. This means that product is water-resistant. In addition to the term "water resistant" watches may be marked with an indication of the test overpressure given as a pressure in bar (3bar) or in the sense of a substitute as a depth in meters (30 meters). These indications however do not correspond to a diving depth but refer to the pressure at which the water overpressure test was conducted.

All Suunto wristop computers can be used for normal swimming but none should be taken below a depth of 2-3 meters. The exception to this is the Core which can be taken to a depth of 10 meters.

Buttons should not be pressed under water on models other than the Core and Military X-Lander.

Remember the Wristop Computer is NOT A DIVING DEVICE.

Question

How do I get correct temperature readings?

I keep getting incorrect readings of temperature. Indoors it gives me an almost constant reading of 30C and last time outside it showed 17C eventhough it was -3C. Are you supposed to take it off your wrist to get a correct reading or does it need to be calibrated.? I couldn't find a single mention of this in the user manual. Thanks for the help!

The temperature reading on the Suunto Core is measuring the temperature near the barometer. It does this because temperature is needed with barometric pressure to get accurate altitude readings. When the watch is on your skin the temperature adjusts to skin temperature, which is actually a good thing. Leave the watch off your skin for about 10-15 minutes and it should adjust to ambient room temperature.

If you are wearing your Suunto Core on your wrist, you will need to take it off in order to get an accurate temperature reading because your body temperature will affect the initial reading.
This is mentioned in the manual on page 33.

It sounds like the battery is defective, please try removing the battery for 30 seconds then insert a fresh one.

If this does not resolve the issue try resetting your Core by pressing all 4 corner buttons for 3 seconds when in TIME mode. Reactivate the Core by pressing the middle right button for 3 seconds.

Question

Suunto Core daylight Savings for sunrise and sunset times is wrong

I live in Melbourne, Australia. Today (25 mar) my Suunto Core changed sunrise\sunset times by 1 hr automatically. However, Daylight savings doesn't change back here for one more week. (1 Apr) Is there a way to update this? Or change daylight savings condition manually? Or will my watch be out by one hour for two weeks every year?

If you're at the right elevation, it's probably just a certain air system in your area that's causing a discrepancy. Low Pressure systems will make you appear higher than you actually area, while high pressure systems will lower your elevation. I would recommend setting the elevation if you absolutely sure of the source, since weather is always subject to change.

The Suunto Core constantly measures absolute air pressure. Based on this measurement and reference values, it calculates altitude or sea level air pressure.

To get the correct altitude readings, you need to enter the sea level air pressure reference value. The sea level air pressure reference value relevant to your location can be found in the weather section of the local newspaper or on the websites of national weather services.
