I bought Sunnto Mc-2 Explorer from Malaysia and I will use it in Singapore. It is made in Finland. Will my MC-2 work accurately in Asia? I noted that the MC-2 is balanced for the northern or for the southern hemisphere, the balancing zone depends on where the compass was purchased. Any effect from above issue on my MC-2. Thanks, Kyaw Kyaw
There are two versions of the MC-2 compass. The MC-2 is balanced for the northern or for the southern hemisphere, the balancing zone depends on where the compass was purchased. If you use a compass that is balanced for the northern hemisphere in Australia, unfortunately it will not work. The other version of the compass is the MC-2 global, it has a global needle and it works everywhere.
The compass is normally sold together with the user manual. You can also use the MC-2 Global manual, it can be found at the URL below: http://www.suunto.com/global/en/products/Fieldcompasses/suunto-mc-2-global#all
I live in California. I have a MC-2 compass and I am going to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. I believe the declination in Arusha is -0 degrees 10' 54" or as I take it true north and magnetic north are almost exactly the same there. Will my MC-2 work there and do I need to do any special adjustments? Thank you.
